What have you inherited health-wise from your parents?
As the saying goes: know your history to prep for your future, however, we hardly look at family medical history.
Chances are there are things we’ve inherited.
“What are those things and how did you find out?” Asks The Best T in the City with Tbose.
A listener opens up about the two illnesses she inherited from both her maternal and paternal sides.
“From my side, it’s diabetes from both the maternal and paternal sides and cancer from my maternal side. Diabetes skipped my father but my grandfather had it – both I and my sister have it.”
With tears rolling down his eyes, a listener tells the show about her battle with TB.
“In 1977 my father died of TB. I got it in 2002 at the age of 28 and I fought until I got healed.
“The following year my sister got it and she never survived. I’ve got four kids and I don’t know what is going to happen to them. My heart breaks when I speak about this.”
Here’s what Kaya 959 listeners are saying on social media:
#TheInheritedHealth i was the 1st in my mom's family to have kidney failure but years later my dad has it. Honestly don't know if it is linked to his side of the family or not as we not that close. But he's walking the same journey in his old age 😏

#TheInheritedHealth… Ai ya neh!… Why really do we inherit the bad…as a nation most of our elders were hard workers & visionaries … But today we're a nation of drunkards…No occasion can happen without majwals…even a baby showers and baby's 1st birthday…Oh why oh why?

#TheInheritedHealth My late Father was a very proud Motswana man, too forward & too stubborn.Even though he was short to others, to me he was the tallest giant I've ever known…But this traits are messing with my relations in general, Sometimes even too stubborn to ask for help
