Sooner or later you may desperately need to borrow a car from friends, neighbour or relative. Whatever your reasons may be, how you return the car is way more important and complex than how or when you borrow it.
To many car owners, car etiquette is extremely important. Having etiquette, especially car etiquette is not only a sign of having morals, but it simply means that I trust you enough to borrow you my car.
On Feel Good Maqondwana, Andy asks listeners about the rules of engagement when borrowing your car.
In a voice note, one listener shares the advice two men gave her about borrowing someone’s car.
“Two men taught me that when you borrow someone’s car, you should bring it back clean and with more petrol than when it was initially borrowed. This is just courtesy and shows appreciation to the person for borrowing your car”.
Here are a few tips when borrowing someone’s car:
- Refill the car up with petrol upon return.
- Wash the vehicle.
- Don’t eat in your friend’s/relative’s car.
- Don’t smoke inside their car.
- Don’t take the car on long trips
- Drive extra cautiously.
- Don’t modify your friend’s car
- Return the car on time.
