An unknown man was beaten to a pulp by security for allegedly stealing peanut butter at a supermarket.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, a bloodied and bruised man is seen and heard pleading with two security guards to let him go, but one guard continues to hold him while the other continually hits him on his backside with a stick.
The man cries and pleads with the guards to please let him go. The incident allegedly took place in Pretoria.
The Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (Psira)revealed that they are investigating the matter.
“We have identified which security company the officers work for and we are investigating the incident.”

Here are some of the reactions on social media.
The punishment must equal the size of the offence, there’s no way you expect us to understand that beating a man to the pulp with Baton stick for stealing PEANUT BUTTER from a shop is ok.

He already has scars in his face meaning he’s already been beaten. What’s this for? pic.twitter.com/OhxmRmMgjB
This was more than stolen peanut butter and punishment. This security man had/has real issues and used this opportunity to “get a feel good moment”. We must never lose humanity even to those who did wrong pic.twitter.com/CRK6pihEZr
