In South Africa, kidnapping has grown to be a lucrative industry, and kidnappers are now considerably more frightening.
Advocate Herman Bosman, TSU International’s kidnapping incident manager, issued this warning, advising everyone to exercise considerably greater caution when travelling and when departing for and returning home and work.

Bosman cautions, however, that while these statistics are valuable, they may not always provide a clear picture of what is truly taking place.
According to crime statistics for 2019/2020, Gauteng experienced 930 kidnappings.
According to Bosman, there are a variety of reasons why people are abducted, but the most frequent ones are robbery, human trafficking, criminal revenge, sexual offences, and mob justice.
