In a statement shared on the league’s social media pages, it was revealed that the decision was made following a meeting this morning.
“To honour her extraordinary life and contribution to the nation, and as a mark of respect, this weekend’s Premier League match round will be postponed, including Monday evening’s game.”
Further updates regarding fixtures will be provided in due course.
Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully at the age of 96, in Balmoral Estate, Scotland, bringing to an end the longest reign as monarch.
