The Royal Family has confirmed the passing of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday, 08 September. This after concerns around Her Majesty’s health was raised by doctors.
Queen Elizabeth II was the longest reigning monarch, having ruled the British throne for 70-years. The Queen was 96-years old, and is said to have died peacefully at Balmoral Estate, Scotland.
In a statement released by the Royal Family, The King and Queen Consort, namely Charles and Camilla will remain at Balmoral on Thursday and return to Buckingham Palace, London on Friday, 09 September.
Prince Charles, the Queen’s eldest son will inherit the throne, sovereign title and role as Head of the Commonwealth.
Charles, who is 73-years old became the British heir to the throne when he was 3-years old and has waited decades to reign.
After Charles, Prince William, will be next in line to the throne, followed by Williams’ eldest son, Prince George.
Charles who is married to Camilla Parker Bowles, Duchess of Cornwall said his mother’s passing is a sad moment for all members of his family.
“We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.”

Queen Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor, was born in Mayfair, London, on 21 April 1926.
