A Cape Town Uber driver was outraged after a woman hailed him down without having any means to pay him.
The unidentified driver who picked up the woman from Khayelitsha recorded the incident after he claims his passenger told him he could touch her in exchange for payment.
“What is going to happen now, because I want my money. You made me drive all the way to Khayelitsha and then you tell me I can touch you, of which it’s wrong.
People say Uber drivers are wrong but it’s not true, it’s you.”
The driver claims his female passenger propositioned that she will pay with her body
In response, the female passenger tells the driver she doesn’t understand why he’s recording her because it’s unprofessional of him.
“I’m trying to ask you to take me back to my place so I can charge my phone and then I can transfer money to you. I don’t have my charger on me. Can you please stop recording me?”
The outraged driver then tells the woman he’s going to take her to the police who can then decide the case because he has evidence that she had offered him her body for payment.
After failing to get the driver to take her home, the woman then asks the driver if she could use his phone to call her sister because she was trying to get him his money.
The Uber driver who was not having it, told the woman that she should have made sure she had money before ordering the Uber.
Reporting the matter to Uber, the e-hailing services responded requesting the driver’s details so they could investigate the incident.
It is unclear if Uber has made contact with the driver or passenger yet.
“We are sorry to hear about this. Could you provide us with the phone number related to your account and the time, date, and name of the rider from the trip in question through DM to be able to assist? We’ll look out for your reply.”
This was Uber’s response
