Prince Kaybee says he feels for South African celebrities who have recently gone through repossessions.
In a thread shared to his Twitter account on Monday, 22 August, the DJ says before people ridicule celebrities for losing their homes and cars, to remember that “we’ve all made financial mistakes at some point.”
While he didn’t name and shame his peers in the industry who are going through financial trouble, it’s no secret that Covid-19 took a toll on the SA entertainment sector.
Being unable to work, many artists shared that they fell on hard times from March 2020 until restrictions eased in June 2022.
One of them was Zahara who came close to losing her Roodepoort home after she fell behind on her bond repayments.
Prince Kaybee said he’s spent the last few days feeling for artists who became media fodder while they lost their belongings.
“I’ve spent the last couple of days thinking about the recent moments in the media, about artist belongings being repossessed. Some of these people are problem solvers, solution driven and a reflection of hope to their families.
Some of us have people who have tried to tarnish our names and they have succeeded in preventing you from securing something for your family and we have all made financial mistakes at some point.”

The Fetch Your Life hitmaker also shared that it’s important people remember to save money but called for critics to stop humiliating those who have fallen on hard times.
“My brand is not clean but thats where your financial health starts, having a clean brand so that no one can use anything against you even in the most crucial moments of success.
Secondly money is there to be SAVED and My heart goes out to everyone that have been publicly humiliated for making bad financial decisions. May y’all pick yourselves up and carry on to be winners in your respective fields.”
