A new proudly South African product made by mothers has hit the market.
The founders of Think Creative Africa, Nkgabiseng Motau and Mukondi Kgomo have launched an electronic, hands-free, rechargeable, wearable breast pump.
According to them when it comes to your nursing adventure, it’s critical to make an easy decision for yourself and making the product was all about making sure they have mothers in mind.
They spoke about how at some stage they both gave birth to children the same year, during a pandemic which resulted in the idea of having a wearable breast pump.

Motau explained how during the time they began breastfeeding they saw a gap in products that were available in the market.
“My co-founder Mukondi Kgomo and I both had babies in 2020, this was the height of the pandemic, and we were both working from home. We had a lot of challenges trying to understand the technology available for women in South Africa when it comes to pumping.”
“You can’t be at home all the time with baby, you have to express milk, and that is not as easy as it sounds. You have to get the right pumps, the pumps have to have about 10 or more tiny pieces, it becomes a DIY project each time you have to assemble the pump.
“We faced those problems, having to show up for a zoom meeting, and there’s something buzzing in the background and your clients asking what’s that sound.”
“We were saying there has to be something better.” says Motau.
