South Africans have to prepare for yet another bout of rolling blackouts, as Eskom implements Stage 4 loadshedding over the next few days.
Fluctuating between Stages 2 and 4 from Wednesday, 03 August, a shortage in generation capacity is continuing to plague the power utility.
The latest power outages comes on the back of Eskom holding an Energy Crisis Committee last week to determine the way forward to ending loadshedding.
Eskom is also facing huge financial issues following a $24 billion debt, which government will be taking on.
In a statement, Eskom says loadshedding is likely to continue until Friday, 05 August.
The colder weather experienced over the past few days has added to an increase in demand.
“The delay in returning a generation unit to service in Arnot, Koeberg and Kusile Power Stations, and unplanned breakdowns at Camden, Grootvlei, Lethabo, Majuba, Medupi and Hendrina, have exacerbated constraints.”
