Legal representative for 4 of the 5 men accused in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, Advocate Teffo Malesela has withdrawn from the case.
Citing harassment by the State and the court as his reasons, Adv. Teffo has accused presiding Judge Tshifhiwa Maumela of being biased.
“It’s now an opportune moment to announce as the counsel for accused 1 to 4, I withdraw as counsel, based on the harassment that I’m receiving from the State and the court.”
Adv. Teffo withdraws as legal counsel for 4 of the 5 men accused in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial
He also claims there is a bigger scheme to cover-up the murder of Senzo Robert Meyiwa, which was according to Adv. Teffo, orchestrated by the President himself.
When asked for proof of this, Adv. Teffo evaded journalists and said there would be a press conference held soon where this will be detailed.

His allegations are a serious offence against President Cyril Ramaphosa at a time when the leader of the country is facing charges for a cover-up of $4million at his Phala Phala farm.
“The reason you Lordship that I can no longer be able to be in court and face you, there are serious allegations here, whereby you are accused No.1
Before I accepted the case, there has been harassment that I should not accept this case from the police, the NPA. I came into this case knowing what the consequences would be.
On the 28 April, when I was arrested in your court your Lordship, that was the plan and the plan was hatched in the office of the President. The No.1 office of the No.1 in the country.”
Advocate Teffo said the plan to cover-up the truth behind Senzo Meyiwa’s murder was orchestrated by President Cyril Ramaphosa himself
Teffo says he will continue to serve as a legal advisor to the Meyiwa family, as he was appointed by Senzo’s brother, Sifiso Meyiwa.
“I’m a problematic advocate, I’m interfering with the plan that was hatched for my clients to take the responsibility for the murder of Senzo Meyiwa, despite the fact they are innocent.
At the time that I was approached to represent accused 1 to 4, I was on the watching brief for the Meyiwa family. I will therefore continue as the watching brief for the family as appointed by Senzo’s brother, Sifiso Meyiwa.”
