Mavuso Msimang, a veteran of the African National Congress (ANC), has urged President Cyril Ramaphosa to resign immediately while inquiries into the heist at his Phala Phala farm in Limpopo are ongoing.
The President and his office have declined to comment, stating that they would like to let the appropriate law enforcement organizations look into the situation.

Vanga said this is a very significant moment in the country’s history as this is the first time people who are aligned to the president have call for him to step down.
“This is absolutely momentous because this is the first time that those who are considered to be in the president’s camp to criticise him, and called for him to step down.”
“These are not you calm people of the world, these are not RET-aligned people, these are people who in 2017 threw their weight behind Cyril Ramaphosa in support, and nominated him for the presidency of the ANC and subsequently the country,” says Vanga

In an interview with SABC News Msimang suggests that the President resign in order to preserve the ANC’s and the nation’s stability.
“If the public is not satisfied with what he says, I think the good thing for the sake of the country and for his own sake would be to say, while this investigation takes place I will step aside as long as there is a lack of satisfaction about the answers that he has given.”
“He really owes it to both the ANC and the country to step aside and allow this thing to be fully investigated. How long it takes of course can’t be determined by himself, which is why there will be a need to consult his colleagues who should step in while he has stepped out,” adds Msimang
