Ace Magashule, the suspended ANC Secretary-General, has declared that with the or without the step-aside resolution he will run in the party’s national conference in December.
The ANC National Executive Committee decided that members and leaders who have been charged with a crime cannot run for office until they have been cleared.
For refusing to step aside, Magashule, who is facing corruption accusations, was suspended.
On Friday, he’ll return to court for pre-trial proceedings and the possibility of a trial date in his corruption case.

Magashule said he is confident that he will lead the African National Congress, “Charged or not charged I’m going to be standing, if nominated, because I was elected by branches, the branches throughout the country must know now.”
“I want you as media people, you must read the resolution of the ANC under fighting crime and corruption, there are nine points, when you are charged, when you are accused of, when you are reported to have been (involved in crime or corruption), there are also serious allegations.”
“You know even in the Free State, there are three charged mayors; because they are CR, they are still mayors,” said Magashule
