A Durban mother has been arrested for allegedly beating her 3-year old daughter to death with a rolling pin.
The 33-year old woman had allegedly also strangled the child as police found the toddler with marks around her neck.
According to police, the child had been beaten on the face and head with a wooden rolling pin.
The mother and daughter were living in a flat on Dr Yusuf Dadoo Street in Durban.
Police received a call at 20h00 on Tuesday, 31 May, and arrived at the flat to find the body of the 3-year old.
The child would have celebrated her 4th birthday this month.
Spokesperson for the police, Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala said a motive for the killing is unknown.
The Durban mother will appear in court to face charges for murder this week.
