Lilian Dube recently dropped a bombshell on Downtime with Somizi, a celebrity chat show where prominent South African have open conversations about their lives.
In the first episode of the show, she revealed her deepest secrets, and how life led her to be a sex worker, leaving Mzansi with mixed reactions.
Before she became renowned, the actress talked about how she battled to make ends meet.
She detailed some of the low-wage occupations she had to do to support her family.

Speaking to Somizi and Mara Louw, she spoke about a time in her life when she was a sex worker, and was open and honest about her life experiences.
“I’m a girl from Lesotho; I had to hustle my way up to the top surviving through unthinkable ways. I did so many jobs that I didn’t want the world to know about, but l will say it out. I was once a prostitute, and l had no choice but to indulge in such business for survival.
I also worked as a domestic worker, nurse aid and tea girl. Even though I act all strong lm a victim of rape, l never reported my case.
I wanted to, but my close family member suggested they will deal with the issue in a family way. Thank you, Somizi, for inviting me to this show. I feel relieved.” said Dube.
Dube is best known for her role as Sister Bettina in the SABC1 drama series Soul City, from 1994-2009.
Lilian is a social activist and is an ambassador for SADAG – the South Africa Depression and Anxiety Group and a breast cancer activist. She also beat breast cancer in 2008.
