A few days after the passing of a Dale College student in a hit-and-run accident, the school reports the tragic passing of another learner.
Two weeks ago, Lisakhanya ‘Carter’ Lwana was reported missing by his family. The 18-year old was found dead on Tuesday, 5 April.
He had succumbed to his injuries from an apparent hit-and-run accident on Sunday morning, 3 April.
The Dale College student had attended a rugby camp on Thursday, 31 March, slept at home on Friday and attended social gatherings with friends on Saturday.
His body was discovered by police between Masingatha and King Williams Town.
Since then, Dale College held another rugby match in East London on Saturday, 9 April where Liyabona Teyise sustained a head injury in a collision with another player.
Liyabona briefly lost consciousness but was able to then walk off the field to receive medical attention.
He later collapsed and was then rushed to hospital, where he was assisted with oxygen as he was having trouble breathing.
A CT scan at Frere Hospital confirmed there was extensive bleeding on Liyabona’s brain and he died later that night.
The 18-year old was a diligent student who was Chairman of the Representative Council of Learners (RCL) at the school.
