Thursday was Sitole’s last day in office.
This comes after a mutual contract termination arrangement with Ramaphosa.
He was appointed by former President Jacob Zuma in 2017, this was without applying for or being promoted to the position.
Sithole and Police Minister Bheki Cele had previously clashed over a variety of issues, including the SAPS’ response to the deadly July unrest in 2021.
