Malcom X, a controversial South African businessman and social media figure, has offered R500 000 to help Sibongile Mani, a convicted Walter Sisulu University student, avoid jail.
Mani was sentenced to five years in prison on Wednesday for stealing R14 million from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), which was mistakenly debited to her account in 2017.
The businesman took to social media to make a pledge to pay R500 000 on behalf of Mani, on condition that she will be free from going to jail, he also made a call to his fellow entrepreneurs to follow suit by covering the rest of the money.
“I, Malcolm X aka Business, hereby pledge R500 000 towards the R818 000 that the Walter Sisulu University (WSU) student, Sbongile Mani, ‘accidentally’ used from the R14m that was ‘accidentally’ transferred to her bank account, provided the payment of this money will lead to her immediate release from prison.
“I urge responsible entrepreneurs to donate the other R318 000 to round up the R818 000 that she ‘accidentally’ used for herself and other students.” he wrote on social media.

The news of Mani’s 5-year sentence hasn’t satt well with many South Africans, who mostly feel many would have done the same thing if they were confronted with mysterious monies.
Now that Sibongile Mani has been sentenced to prison, can they also investigate how that money landed into her account 'cause 14m is a lot of money and it definitely didn't miraculously land in her account

I don't celebrate the 5 year sentencing of Sibongile Mani for R800k.

She should have got suspended sentence & made to pay back plus community service.
What has been done about the incompetent person that put money into her account?

Sibongile Mani should not be facing prison time while ANC politicians are comfortable in their luxury vehicles and looting our taxes.

The jail sentence given to Sibongile Mani is a racist one!

Eskom CEO, De Ruyter “mistakenly” paid R5 billion to Tageta Resource &Exploration who were undergoing business rescue. That money is still not recouped.
A young black woman is sentenced to 5 years for R800 000?
Sibongile Mani was just a Child who needed guidance, we live in a country where apartheid thugs are easily forgiven but when coming to a Black Child they won't hesitate to bury you alive 💔. pic.twitter.com/fYwLuNAfIk
