Julius Malema has laughed off suggestions he was responsible for getting Operation Dudula leader Nhlanhla Lux arrested.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Commander-In-Chief (CIC) was speaking on a radio interview on Sunday where he fielded questions about Lux’s arrest.
“I have no time for small boys! And I won’t waste my time on useless people!” Malema responded.
Malema responded that he doesn’t have the powers to get anyone arrested and told people that the Dudula leader was arrested due to unlawfulness.
Tensions between Operation Dudula and the EFF escalated after Lux and his group of activists started targeting South Africans in townships.
The group were advocating against crimes committed by undocumented foreign nationals but two weeks ago took to the streets in various townships in Gauteng.
Dudula members were accused of storming into the home of 59-year old Victor Ramerafe without a search warrant after accusing the man of being a drug dealer.
According to the gentleman, he asked the Operation Dudula leader where his search warrant was, and was apparently told, he didn’t need one.
However, in an interview with Kaya Drive on Thursday last week, Lux told Sizwe Dhlomo that SAPS were in charge of search warrants not him or his team.
Lux was arrested shortly after his interview on Kaya 959, and held in prison over the weekend after his bail application was postponed.
He said he works jointly with the police and it wasn’t Dudula who entered the man’s home but SAPS officials.
Malema made it clear during his interview that the EFF didn’t open a case against Lux, it was Ramerafe himself but because he was scared, the EFF accompanied him.
He stressed that the EFF are not threatened by Nhlanhla Lux and Operation Dudula.
Lux is set to appear in court on Monday morning to apply for bail.
