Today was the day Rikhado ‘Riky Rick’ Makhado was laid to rest and we took the time to go to Braamfontein to receive tributes from young people in the streets of Braamfontein.
It was a sombre mood in the usually bustling street of the creative and cultural hub of the city.
This was also the place where Riky Rick would hang out and interact with the young generation.
It was also in Braamfontein where he hosted his iconic event Cotton Fest, which was a popular celebration of youth culture, through music, fashion, dance, creativity.

“Thank you for everything you’ve shown us, through you I have learned that I can express myself through fashion.” said one young lady as part of her tribute.
We also spoke to a young artist by the name of Low Key Extrovert who said “I just wanted to send my condolences to Riky Rick’s family, his loved ones his close friends, I am sending my love everyone.”
