Muzikayise Malephane, the man convicted for the murder of Tshegofatso Pule said greed was the reason he killed her.
Appearing in court for her murder trial, the hired hitman said he agreed to murder her for the money he was offered.
According to Malephane, Pule’s boyfriend Ntuthuko Shoba wanted her dead because he didn’t want his wife to find out that she was pregnant.
Malephane testified that Shoba had planned multiple attempts on her life.
Tshegofatso Pule was set up for an interview as a makeup artist on 29 May 2020. Shoba has allegedly planned for Malephane to pick Pule up after the interview and kill her that day.
Malephane shared how Shoba instigated the ‘interview’ for Pule, and had someone pretend to be a recruiter from an agency.
On the day of the interview, Pule received a call from the said recruiter that she was running late, but asked Pule to get into a vehicle that was waiting for her.
Malephane then left when Pule did not show up. He says that Shoba was agitated that his plans to kill Pule had failed.
Muzikayise Malephane shared that Shoba had initially offered him R7 000 to kill his pregnant girlfriend. He then raised the offer to R20 000 and finally told Malephane that he would pay him R70 000 to kill Pule.
Her body was found hanging from a tree in Roodepoort in June 2020. She had been stabbed.
Ntuthuko Shoba, accused mastermind of Pule’s murder has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
