The AmaZulu Royal family is divided over the contentious issue of the late King Goodwill Zwelithini’s will.
With King Misuzulu KaZwelithini named successor to the monarch last year, the late King’s first wife Queen Sibongile, is questioning the validity of King Zwelithini’s will.
Together with her two daughters AmaZulu Princess Ntandoyenkosi and Princess Ntombizosuthu Zulu-Duma, the Queen has called for King Misuzulu’s coronation ceremony to not go ahead.
The Princesses have applied for a court interdict to stop the procession from taking place.
In addition, the Queen has claimed that the signature on her late husband’s will was forged.
On Tuesday, Queen Sibongile’s quest to inherit 50% of the royal estate was squashed in the Pietermaritzburg High Court.
The Queen’s argument that King Zwelithini’s five other marriages be declared null and void did not stand.
This was due to the Queen’s legal team failing to seek an order in this regard.
In a fresh attempt to contest the estate, the signature on the late King’s will has been ruled a forgery by an expert.
King Zwelithini named the late Queen Mantfombi Dlamini-Zulu as regent in his will.
She was King Zwelithini’s third wife, who named King Misuzulu as her successor in her will.
The battle over the Zulu monarch has left the Royal family divided with both Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi and King Misuzulu opposed to the Queen and Princesses actions.
King Misuzulu says the Princesses have no right to call for the interdict as they were not part of the succession to the throne.
Thousands of King Misuzulu supporters protested outside the court because they are against external interference in their traditional structures.
The case has concluded and a date for the judgement has yet to be set.
