The country’s Covid-19 death toll continues to climb as 500 more deaths were recorded on Thursday.
In addition 9,860 new Covid-19 cases were confirmed by the Department of Health.
The latest figures come after a backlog of auditing data during the festive period.
Over the past 24-hours a further 45 deaths were confirmed.
In a statement by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), South Africa’s death toll is now 92,112.
This indicates a positivity rate of 21%.

The cumulative number of recoveries is over 3.2 million. With over 28.1 million Covid-19 vaccinations administered.
