‘The Daily Show’ has released a video of Trevor Noah doing an ‘MTV Cribs’ spoof at his childhood home in Soweto.
The South African comedian dubbed the spoof, ‘Cribs: Oppression Edition’. The video was originally recorded in 2018 when Trevor visited his grandmother in South Africa.
The home tour kicked off with a look at the driveway.
“This is where we used to want to park our cars. We didn’t have any cars but we built driveways because that’s what life is all about,” he teased.
Trevor then showed off the house’s security features – broken glass bottles placed on the fence.
“We’ve got what’s known as an intruder defence mechanism of glass. Every single one of these, I drank what was inside, Balling,” the 37-year-old joked.
Next up was the toilet!
“Anybody can have a toilet inside the house but it takes a real baller to have a toilet outside the house.”

Trevor Noah’s multi-million dollar homes
Social media users found Trevor’s ‘MTV Cribs’ spoof hilarious.
“How anyone hates this guy I would never get it, people are just unhappy, one of the funniest guys on earth, a natural comedian,” one Twitter user wrote.
Another user joked that Trevor forgot to mention the Yellow Pages book used as toilet paper.
Trevor’s current living situation is a far cry from his humble beginnings in Soweto. According to the Los Angeles Times, Trevor forked out $27.5-million (roughly R412-million at the time) for a mansion in Bel-Air.
He reportedly purchased the mansion in late December 2020. The three-story mansion reportedly has 11 bathrooms!
Not bad for someone who grew up using an outside toilet. The Bel-Air mansion also has a library, gym, game room, and six bedrooms.
Trevor reportedly put the home back on the market in October. He spends most of his time in New York where ‘The Daily Show’ is recorded.
Trevor reportedly purchased a two-story penthouse in midtown Manhattan for $10-million.
