On Monday, South African DJ Judy J shocked many when she announced that she’s quitting the music industry.
The 20-year-old revealed this through an official statement, giving a special thanks to everyone who contributed to her success.
“Out of the almost three years of my professional career, I was fortunate enough to be surrounded by so much love and a solid support structure, and this is what contributed hugely to my success., and for this, I will forever be grateful,” she continued.
She gave thanks to Mbhavi, who has always been a father figure in her life.
“The man who sacrificed so much in order to help me succeed, the very same man who decided to play the role of my father (because I grew up without one) Mbhavi Matshinga will forever have a special place in my heart. I love and thank God for bringing you into my life.”
As hard as it was for her to make that decision, she is doing it for her well-being.
“As sad as I am when I pen this down, it is truly, necessary for me to have taken this decision both for my well-being as well as my own personal reasons. I have thought about it for the longest time now, and I keep on reaching the same conclusion. This is goodbye from me.”
She further adds that this is what she truly wants for her life.
“As unfair as I know it is to many like those who look up to me and draw inspiration from what I have achieved and what was still going to achieve, it was really a heavy decision to make, and I humbly ask that you respect it because it truly is what I want and I humbly apologize to those who will find and see this as a disappointment,” the statement read in part.
