South African media personality, Pearl Thusi, says she doesn’t believe former president FW De Klerk deserves a state funeral.
Taking to Twitter, Thusi said if the government gave De Klerk a state funeral, it will be an insult to the families of those who lost their loved ones during apartheid.
“If FW DE KLERK gets a state funeral… That will be a huge middle finger to the people who suffered under the apartheid regime in this country,” wrote Thusi.

“I’m fact we must disrupt that funeral if it’s declared a state funeral. There’s just no way,” she added.

Thusi is not the only one who believes the former president should not have a state funeral.
The Economic Freedom Fighters also echoed Thusi’s statement.
“A State Funeral for F.W De Klerk would be an insult to the families of the Cradock Four, it would undermine the memory of the people of Boipathong, Mthatha, Bhisho, the people of Vosloorus and many communities who were maimed by his state-sponsored black on black violence,” EFF Tweeted.
