Nomia Rosemary Ndlovu, the woman dubbed the ‘Serial Killer Cop‘, has been found guilty and sentenced for murder.
The former police officer was accused of orchestrating the death of six relatives to cash in on life insurance policies.
State Advocate Riana Williams argued that Ndlovu had shown no remorse and there were no prospects of successfully rehabilitating her.
Ndlovu was charged with six counts of murder, four of fraud, and defeating the ends of justice. She was also charged with conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder or alternatively, eight counts of incitement to commit murder.
“The court imposed six life imprisonment terms on Ndlovu for five murders of her relatives Witness Madala Homu, Audrey Somisa Ndlovu, Zanele Motha, Mayeni Mashaba, Brilliant Mashego and her boyfriend, Maurice Mabasa. All the deceased were killed so she could cash in on insurance claims,” says NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane.
Ndlovu was further sentenced to 40 years for four counts of fraud perpetrated on insurance companies Clientele Limited, 1Life, Old Mutual and Assupol Life.
Ndlovu received monetary benefits to the tune of approximately R1 384 959 following the deaths of her relatives. She took out accidental life and funeral policies for them, between April 2013 and October 2015.

Ndlovu hired a hitman
Mjonondwane adds that Ndlovu was further sentenced to 10 years for attempting to kill her mother. She received a further 60 years for inciting hitmen to commit the murders of her sister Joyce and her children.
“Ndlovu sourced a hitman, Njabulo Kunene to kill her sister Joyce Ndlovu and her five children. Njabulo informed the police and an undercover officer was roped in as the second hitman. The strategy was that Ndlovu would book herself in at Carstenhof Hospital.
“The hitman would then come to pick her up so that she can go with them to Bushbuckridge to point out her sister and her place of residence,” Mjonondwane says.
On their way to Bushbuckridge, Ndlovu bought petrol. She further shared how she wanted her sister to be burnt in her sleep. She included her sister’s children in the plan so that no witnesses would be left behind.
Unbeknown to her that all this information was being recorded by cameras that were installed in the car they were driving into Bushbuckridge.
On arrival at Bushbuckridge, Ndlovu pointed out her sister’s house. She was thereafter transported to the taxi rank to board a taxi back to Johannesburg. Police officers then arrested her.
Ndlovu pleaded not guilty to all charges. She told the court that the purpose of the Bushbuckridge trip was to take these men to a traditional healer.
