These days you close your eyes and when you open them, there’s new lingo in the streets.
It’s so hard to keep up with the slang nowadays as new words/terms are emerging every day, but don’t worry because we’ve got you covered.
This morning on The Best t in the city, Uncle T asked the Kaya listeners to share slang words or phrases that they have come across.
Here’s some lingo teenagers are using:
Turnt
Short for turned, by this, they mean that they are under the influence of alcohol.
E.g., I was so turnt at that party last night.
Being extra
When they say that you are being extra, they mean that you are being unnecessarily dramatic.
E.g., you are being so extra right now.
Underground gang
When they refer to the ‘underground gang,’ they are referring to the ancestors/Badimo.
E.g., I’m going to the cemetery to check on the underground gang.
Gucci
Something good or cool
E.g., that jacket you bought is so Gucci.
Cappin
When they say that you are cappin, what they mean is that you are lying.
E.g., you are cappin right now.

@tboseZA My 15 year old niece makes me keep up with the lingo, jargons like “cav, mize, rents, drip is forever”. That’s how she speaks with us and I had to understand what she means #Lingo2021
