Eswatini unrest continues after peaceful protests were met with violence

Eswatini calls for protests to be banned after things took a violent turn on Thursday. Several unarmed protestors were shot when police and soldiers fired live ammunition.
On-going unrest continues as citizens react to the Kingdom suspending internet and social media access. Latest reports indicate that several nurses and healthcare workers were shot.
The recent spate of protests started two weeks ago and have continued since. According to reports from News24, 4 people were taken to hospital to surgery for gunshot wounds.
More than 30 healthcare workers were shot and injured in Thursdays protests. Since the unrest began in June at least 29 people have died in Eswatini.
The people of Eswatini have grown increasingly frustrated by King Mswati III’s authoritarian rule. King Mswati denies the allegations that he is using public money to maintain his lavish life.
Currently, the King has 15 wives and 23 children all of whom he showers with expensive gifts .
Images coming out of Eswatini are disturbing and the people are calling for an end to Mswati’s rule.
