South Africa is getting its very first Tsonga drama series and it is coming this April. Bridget Masinga had an exclusive conversation with the cast and crew of Giyani, Land Of Blood on #TheBSide where they shared what we could expect from this newest addition to local content.
The story is centered around the conflict between the Mudau and Baloyi families. Set in the fictional village of Risinga, the telenovela is set to showcase industry veterans as well as undiscovered talent.

With over four countries in Southern Africa having XiTsonga as an official language, the series is expected to attract a large audience. Obed Baloyi spoke a bit about his role as a pioneer of expressing his love for the Xitsonga language.
“I once wrote a play on Tribal chauvinism, addressing how some of the indigenous languages were being treated, and people appreciated it.”
