Thomas and Skhumba’s second stop this Transport month took them to Bree Streets Taxi Rank in downtown Johannesburg.
As promised the morning team is going for the full transport experience in the Gauteng province.
Here they experience firsthand the challenges many commuters face daily using taxis to move from point A to B.

The trip begins at Kaya 959 House, where the team finds themselves in a taxi with a very loud engine.
They then arrive at The Bree Street Taxi Rank which is divided in two by Pixley Ka Isaka Seme Street (formerly Sauer Street).
On the other side, which houses more taxis, as well as street sellers stands, Thomas and Skhumba get themselves a fresh cup of coffee and scones.
Also on offer is fresh cow meat amongst other things.
The team also wanted to know from the Kaya 959 listeners what they thought would make the taxi industry work even better as a mode of public transport.
