Raising kids is not child’s play and depending on the their stage of growth, there’s enormous effort a parent has to put in.
The constant attendance to another person and lack of sleep can leave parents feeling physically run down. Let’s be honest, playing with teddy bears or toys for hours on end is not the most stimulating activity for an adult.
When kids are toddlers they require 24/7 around the clock care. The early stages of raising a child can be daunting, especially when they have colic. More and more mothers have been speaking up about postpartum depression, and today most people see it as a normal physiological response experienced by some new mothers.
When they start being able to communicate, it makes it slightly easier as they are able to say what they want. However, its also the period where you have to constantly have to deal with tantrums and outrageous demands.
Thomas and Skhumba in the morning asked Kaya 959 listeners whether they prefer their kids when they were toddlers or now when they are older and can talk.

Actually, I loved them before they were toddlers. That moment when a child wakes up around 5 or 6am, then they play with their feet or makes bubbles. Priceless…

This morning I had to write an apology letter to the school for my son’s behaviour after he verbally fought with a teacher. Lapho, he hasn’t even submitted a project.
