The ANC has officially dismissed MKMVA spokesperson Carl Niehaus. According to IOL, the ANC said it will only liaise with Niehaus in the presence of his legal team.
“If comrade Niehaus wants to meet with the ANC, he will have to do that through his legal team,” ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe said.
“Where we are now, he is dismissed as an employee of the ANC. If he wants to appeal this, he can exercise the normal route. If the ANC does not take action against descent, it will lose the respect of society,” Mabe added.
Niehaus has to collect his belongings from the ANC’s headquarters at Luthuli House and has seven days to explain to the party why he should not be dismissed.
Niehaus was suspended for bringing the party into disrepute.
Mabe said this was due to Niehaus’s alleged inflammatory statements uttered at Jacob Zuma’s home in the days leading up to Zuma’s imprisonment. The party also disbanded the MKMVA.

Opportunistic behaviour
This week, the ANC slammed Niehaus after he announced that he would be laying criminal charges against the party over non-payment of salaries.
“The ANC has interacted with staff representatives and have unequivocally confirmed that Carl Niehaus does not represent them nor does he have the mandate to act on their behalf.
“His desperate lust for publicity and his latest withdrawal of the said fraudulent statement does not augur well with Carl’s self claimed credentials as a decorated freedom fighter,” Mabe said.
He said the ANC finds Niehaus’s behaviour to be “divisive, opportunistic and devoid of revolutionary discipline”.
“Carl’s behaviour and utterances are consistently directed at undermining and disrespecting the 54th ANC National Conference leadership collective under President Comrade Cyril Ramaphosa,” he said.
In response to the ANC’s statement, Niehaus said his dismissal was “fundamentally wrong, draconian and illegal”.
He further denied the allegations levelled against him.
