It’s no secret that Kaya Drive presenter Sizwe Dhlomo has a hectic social media personality as Boity Thulo pointed out on Kaya 959 but scratch the surface just deep enough and you’ll find an optimistic soul who looks for the good in people.
He shared this on Midday Joy when mentioning one of the Kaya Drive topics this Wednesday, “Are you a good judge of character?” which took Unathi by surprise.

“I can be a little too naive,” Sizwe explained, “and I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt and look for the good in people. When it comes to helping someone, there’s no question about it, if I can help, I will.”
It’s not a side the outspoken personality exposes often but like with most things in life that are unquantifiable, a little goes a long way and Sizwe Dhlomo’s heart is in the right place.
In July Sizwe took to social media to share a message of hope with South Africans, “We’ll make it through though guys. God willing. ” he tweeted. At the time the number of positive Covid-19 cases in the country had peaked during the third wave and as a Level 4 lockdown was implemented.
The popular Kaya 959 personality’s strong on-air presence and excellent taste in music makes the show a firm favourite on the station but it may just be Sizwe’s ability to read and relate to people that gives him the edge.
At a time when so many are struggling to get by, catch a break and make it through a day, perhaps we could do with a little more of Siz’s outlook on life and a little less negativity.
