Over the past week, Beyoncé’s stunning Harper’s Bazaar photoshoot has taken over the internet and the icon’s exclusive interview reveals sides to her that are complex yet delicate.
As much as she looks flawless in every beautifully stylised image for the September feature, Beyoncé shares that like many women her insecurities are valid but she has learnt that in order to give the best of herself, she has to take care of herself and listen to her body.
“I think like many women, I have felt the pressure of being the backbone of my family and my company and didn’t realise how much that takes a toll on my mental and physical well-being. I have not always made myself a priority.”
Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter shares her struggles with insomnia from touring over half her life and spending too much time on diets being overly conscious of her body.
During quarantine, Beyoncé was unphased about her weight gain and she talked about overall healthcare being more than looking past the bag of chips!
As she approaches her 4th decade, she’s learnt that it’s okay to step outside your comfort zone and she has since discovered the benefits of CBD which has helped ease her inflammation, restless nights and soreness. Beyoncé swears by the healing properties of honey and CBD and is building a hemp and honey farm.
“I have paid my dues and followed every rule for decades, so now I can break the rules that need to be broken.”
On turning 40, Beyoncé is not afraid of reaching the milestone, having done and achieved so much in life already, she now just wants to take it all in and enjoy her family.
“I’ve spent so many years trying to better myself and improve whatever I’ve done that I’m at a point where I no longer need to compete with myself. I have no interest in searching backwards. The past is the past.” – Beyoncé tells Harper’s Bazaar
