Zozibini Tunzi’s reign as Miss Universe has come to an end.
The South African beauty, who was crowned in December 2019, is the pageant’s longest-reigning titleholder.
Zozibini took part in both the preliminary and final stages of this year’s competition. Fellow South African, Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Tebow (née Nel-Peters), also made an appearance.
Zozibini reflected on her final day as Miss Universe.
“Someone woke up to her last day of being the reigning Miss Universe! I’m feeling all sorts of emotions as we count the hours down,” the 27-year-old wrote on Instagram.
Bowing out in style
Zozibini looked all kinds of amazing during her last few days as Miss Universe. She stole the show at Sunday night’s ceremony.
She turned heads in a black and white dress by Biji – La Maison de Couture.
Zozibini completed the look with a matching doek. “This dress is everything,” Ayanda Thabethe commented on a post the designer shared.
Zozibini also wowed in a green Víctor López during the preliminary stage of the pageant.
Natasha Joubert does SA proud
Miss Universe South Africa Natasha Joubert did not bring home the crown but she did the country proud.
Scores of South Africans praised her performance and were shocked when she did not make the top 21.
“I am in such denial that our @natasha_joubert didn’t make the Top21 at @missuniverse. Most of me believe there must have been a BIG mistake…” former Miss World Rolene Strauss wrote.
Miss Mexico takes the crown
Miss Mexico Andrea Meza was named Miss Universe 2020 on Sunday night.
She beat Brazil, Peru, India, and the Dominican Republic to take home the crown.
