Many residents from Diepkloof in Soweto woke up to the scenes of a mop-up operation aimed at chasing away foreign nationals who sell goods at the Bara Taxi Rank.
Community members came out in their numbers this morning to remove all foreigners operating within the tank’s precinct.
Communities across the country have voiced out their issues around foreign nationals, with many finding political homes that a pro-regulation of foreign nationals in their communities.
In previous years South Africa has seen a surge in Xenophobic attacks which have since subsided.
In October 2021, Soweto residents expressed their frustrations by closing down a KFC store in Diepkloof accusing the management of hiring foreign nationals.
