[WATCH] Retro/Tecno Episode 5 – Tekken

Retro/Tecno on Tekken!

Kaya 959 Retro/Tecno is a gaming series, where we indulge in classic arcade games. In this episode, we will be breaking down the first 3 installments of the classic side Fighting game, Tekken. We will delve into the inception, creation, time lines, characters and history of the game.

Tekken 

The series follow the events of the King of Iron Fist Tournament, hosted by the Mishima Zaibatsu, a huge Japanese conglomerate led by Heihachi Mishima. The conflict within the Mishima family serves as the main focus of the series’ plot,

Initial characters include, Jack, Kazuya, King, Paul, Law, Michelle, Nina and Yoshimitsu

The tournament is nearing its finale, with prize money awarded to the fighter who can defeat Heihachi Mishima in the final round of the competition.

Kazuya Mishima, Heihachi’s biological son, is the main character. Heihachi, believing his son was too weak to ever inherit his conglomerate, decided to thrown into a ravine when he was five years old. Fueled by hatred for his father, he enters the tournament to exact his revenge.

Gameplay focuses on hand-to-hand combat with an opponent, with the gameplay system including blocks, throws, escapes, and ground fighting. The series later introduced combos and special moves, with characters also able to stage break arenas.

Tekken 2

This is the second installment in the Tekken fighting game series. The game was first released in arcades in 1995, and later released for the PlayStation in 1996.

After a grueling battle which raged on for hours, Kazuya emerged victorious by utilizing the power granted to him by the supernatural entity known as Devil.

Two years have passed. The Mishima Zaibatsu under Kazuya’s leadership has become even more powerful. Soon after his father’s apparent death, Kazuya disappears into the shadows. However, rumors of his immense power, and a dark side, slowly begin to spread throughout the world.

Heihachi survived his fall into the ravine thanks to his superhuman resilience. He then retreated to the hills to meditate in order to rekindle and enhance his fighting ability. He enters the King of Iron Fist Tournament 2 to reclaim his conglomerate and dispose of Kazuya once and for all.

Heihachi flies in a helicopter with an unconscious Kazuya, heading towards a volcano. Heihachi then tosses Kazuya into the volcano, before fleeing as it erupts.

 

Tekken 3

Tekken 3 is the third installment in the Tekken fighting game series. It was originally released in 1997 in arcades, with a home release for the PlayStation following in 1998.

Sixteen years after the second King of Iron Fist Tournament, the story starts with Jun Kazama, who has been living a quiet life in Yakushima with her young son, Jin, whose father is Kazuya Mishima.

Meanwhile, Heihachi Mishima has established the Tekken Force, an organization dedicated to the protection of the Mishima Zaibatsu. Using the company’s influence, Heihachi is responsible for many events that have ultimately led to world peace.

However, while on an excavation in Mexico, a squadron of the Tekken Force is attacked and vanquished by a mysterious being known as the “Ogre

After seeing the Ogre in action, Heihachi’s dormant dream of world domination is reignited, and he seeks to capture Ogre to use him for this goal.

1.1.“Personal Information” means information relating to an identifiable, living, natural person and where it is applicable, identifiable, existing juristic person, including all information as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013. 

1.2  Parliament assented to POPIA on 19 November 2013. The commencement date of section 1Part A of Chapter 5section 112 and section 113 was 11 April 2014. The commencement date of the other sections was 1 July 2020 (with the exception of section 110 and 114(4). The President of South Africa has proclaimed the POPI commencement date to be 1 July 2020.

 
1.3. “Processing” means the creation, generation, communication, storage, destruction of personal information as more fully defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013.
