A video of a learner who pours water on a teacher at school has gone viral and sparked outrage on social media over the lack of discipline with students.
The teacher appears to be on the phone when the learner approaches him with a bottle of water which is then splashed all over him. It is unclear which school the incident took place at and some say the student was just having a bit of “spring day” fun.
As mentioned on Thomas and Skhumba in the Morning, many in the city celebrate Spring Day by throwing a bucket of water on people. A trend that seems to be “a Johannesburg thing” as social media users from other parts of the country cannot relate.

However, many felt the student’s actions at school were immediate cause for some form of discipline as the learner carried out the “prank” in the presence of other learners. In terms of influencing his peers negatively, strict action was called for after the video was posted online.
Other learners could be heard cheering and laughing after the learner pours water on the teacher who tried running after the boy but stopped.
