The long-anticipated reunion of The Real Housewives of Durban Season 5 has finally aired — and it has left social media and the show’s viewers with a lot to unpack.
As expected, all the ladies looked stunning in their gold, silver, and white outfits, and everyone stuck to the theme, well, except Miss Nonku Williams International, who was noticeably absent from the reunion.
There was also a surprise twist: the husbands of our Durban Housewives attended the reunion to share their perspective on the show and how they dealt with the emotional rollercoaster their wives experienced during and after the show.
But was everything really addressed? Let’s get into it…
Cheating rumours confirmed to be true…
Kwanele Kubheka, affectionately known as Fafa Kubheka, was a new Housewife in this season of the franchise. Her storyline revolved around her separation from husband Thabo Cele.
The details surrounding their breakup were initially vague, as Fafa neither confirmed nor denied anything.
Die-hard fans of the franchise may remember the episode where Thabo told the other husbands that he and Fafa had separated — allegedly because she had entertained another man, who also happened to be Thabo’s friend.
This rumour eventually made its way to the ladies, but Fafa remained tight-lipped, despite Nonku’s repeated attempts to get her to open up.
Well, if reunions are for anything, it’s to clear the air.
Thabo Cele confirmed in front of both the wives and the husbands who made it to the reunion that Fafa did indeed step out of their marriage with another man.
When host MaBlerh asked about the cheating rumours, Thabo said: “Yes, I would say she cheated. If I say to you, ‘Do not communicate with a certain person because I’m uncomfortable with it,’ and you still go ahead and entertain that relationship — that is classified as cheating. I did not understand the context of their relationship.”
In her defense, the ever-adorable Fafa responded:
“I used to speak to that person prior. When my husband told me I needed to stop entertaining this particular person, we had already had enough of each other. So we were not getting along at home, which led to our separation.”
Despite all this drama, the couple seems to have rekindled their love. Thabo was seen proposing to Fafa on her 30th birthday in one of the episodes.
They also revealed that they are now seeing a therapist to work on their marital issues, which, according to Fafa, has been incredibly helpful.
A surprise guest at the reunion!
Many viewers expected Miss Nonku International to go back on her word and attend the reunion, especially as she’s widely considered the protagonist and the OG of the show.
But Miss International stuck to her principles and did not attend a reunion of a show that “relentlessly pursues drama and pits women against each other” — just as she stated in her Instagram post.
In a surprise twist, businesswoman Precious showed up. Most viewers did not see this coming, especially since she had previously left the show just a few episodes in, after her business was dragged by Minnie Ntuli.
This time around, Precious tried to redeem herself and her hair business. However, Angel Ndlela and Lo Sithole exposed that she sold a weave that “looked like it was eaten by rats.”
Lo, who is no longer rocking her signature short hair, recently bought new hair from Precious — and let’s just say, she wasn’t impressed.
Londie London, on the other hand, defended Precious. She revealed she used to be her brand ambassador and had never experienced any issues with Precious or the hair she sells.

Nonku Williams International’s absence was definitely felt. Some viewers called it the dullest reunion ever, while others believe Nonku was the glue that kept the ladies together.

As this was only Part 1 of the reunion, viewers are hopeful that more unresolved issues will be addressed — and put to bed — in Part 2.
