A video of a Kenyan schoolboy seen narrating how he walked for walked for 35 kilometres after being sent away from school for not paying fees has sparked outrage.
In a video being shared on Twitter, Linus Kiptoo, who is a student at Chavakali Boys High School in western Kenya, says he did not have bus fare and so he was forced to walk from morning to evening to get to Kakamega town.

“I have been walking and resting. I hadn’t eaten anything since morning and the watchman here bought me mandazi [a Kenyan snack] and I’m grateful,” he says in the video.
He said a night watchman helped him spend the night in the town.
There was no teacher or adult in that school who had the common sense to ask the children if they had fare? If they could come home safely? cruelty is so normalized in Kenya people don’t even notice when they’re cruel.
