A Sri Lankan beauty queen was left traumatized after her crowning moment went horribly wrong.
Pushpika De Silva had her crown pulled off her head moments after she had won the title of Mrs Sri Lanka.
Last year’s winner and current Mrs World, Caroline Jurie, claimed that De Silva was not eligible for the crown because she was not married.
Taking the microphone to have her little vent session, Jurie started by saying, “I have a small request, as for the Mrs. World Inc., there’s a rule that you have to be married, and not divorced. So, I’m taking my first step saying that the crown goes to the first runner-up.”
Jurie has since been arrested for assault.
De Silva, while estranged from her husband, is still legally married. What’s ironic is that Jurie who placed the crown on De Silva was the one who then tugged it off her head.
It is said that De Silva required treatment at a hospital after the incident which left her traumatized.
This wasn’t the first pageant crowning incident that ended horribly, in 2015 the second place runner-up Sheislane Hayalla snatched the crown from the winner Carolina Toledo in Miss Amazonas 2015.
Who knew fighting over a beauty title could end so violently?
