Well-known community radio station, Alex FM has been left devastated by a looting incident that impacts the station’s on-air broadcasting.
Studio equipment, computers, and infrastructure worth R5 million were stolen, with the studios left ransacked.

The station had been serving the community of Alexandra for 27 years and will now be off-air until further notice.

Station Manager Takalane Nemangowe said at the time of the looting incident there were no police or military presence. Looters gained access to the studios at 02h00 on Tuesday morning.
The radio station’s social media account has been actively updating the community on the looting activities.
