Today on #StartYourDayOnKaya959, Dineo Ranaka and Sol Phenduka speak to 11-year-old motocross racer Kabelo Ledwaba Jnr.
At only 11 years old Kabelo has become the youngest Black child to be doing motocross racing professionally.
Kabelo Jnr’s father was a professional quad bike racer and has won five national events, so it makes sense why the bright 11-year-old would be inspired and interested in motocross racing.
“I saw my dad, he use to ride quad bikes. He won 5 nationals and I got inspired by that”, he tells Sol and Dineo.
Apart from drawing inspiration from his dad, Kabelo started his journey in motocross racing three years ago, when he got his first bike as a birthday present.
“When I got my first bike I was really really excited, because I saw how much fun it was. I just had to believe in myself because I knew I could do it. From there on I told my dad that I really wanted to do this”, Kabelo tells Dineo.
It was at this moment when Kabelo fell in love with riding, so much so that he started doing motocross racing.
Despite being the youngest participant in this sport, Kabelo has proven to him time and time again that he is indeed a force to be reckoned with.
Kabelo is set to leave for Austria on the 7th of August 2022 to practice for the World Championship taking place in Vantaa, Finland.
