Starting her day on 959 Breakfast with Dineo Ranaka and Sol Phenduka is Miss SA Ndavi Nokeri.
Ndavi was crowned the new Miss South Africa on Saturday evening, 13 August 2022, at the Sun Arena in Pretoria.
The 23-year-old obtained her BCom Investment Management degree from the University of Pretoria and was working as an asset management firm in Cape Town.
Describing what her name means, she says it doesn’t have a specific meaning. “I’ve asked my parents many times but they said they’ve just named me after my grandmother,” she explains.
Sharing what beauty means to her, Ndavi says you can’t use someone as a standard of beauty.
“So I think you create your own standard of beauty. I think beauty is more from the inside, what you carry is the essence of you as a person.”
Miss South Africa is single at the moment, she says it is by choice.
“Being single is a status by choice because I just want to focus on what I’m doing for myself right now. And I think I just need to be single for this stage of my life.”
She entered the Miss South Africa pageant because she “wanted to give back to the community.” One of her missions is to see the quality of education improve in less developed communities.
“My thing was to give back to the community because what I saw about the Miss SouthAfrica pageant is that it gives you the space to make a difference on a large scale.
“For me, it’s to focus on that educational equity in our country because what I’ve realised as a woman who grew up in the village and got the opportunity to get to go to more advance schools is that there is a big difference in th education that we got in town vs the schools in rural areas.
“What I really need to do is to ensure that they have the same resources and the same exposure to opportunities. And really to produce a conducive environment for them to learn.”
