Founder and CEO of Nkarhi Timepieces, Elmond Khoza joins Tbose on My Top 10 at 10 to chat about his childhood, building his timepiece business, and much more.
“Nkarhi was founded in 2019 and in essence, it was a culmination of a dream which started 5 years before. My father received his qualification in watch making and repairs before I was even born,” he tells Kaya 959.
“I find life very fascinating that the education, dedication, and passion of my father are actually manifesting in my own life.”
Elmond received his first lesson in watchmaking at the age of 6 from his father. When he was 12 his dad got him his first job at a jewelry store. “My job there was to keep the place clean. I also assisted with repairing,” he adds.
“By then I was exposed to the idea that someone could make a living selling stuff.”
His journey with watches had to take a backseat as he shifted his focus to his studies.
Elmond’s passion for watches was rekindled in varsity when he accompanied his friend to watch a repairer,
