Former Generations actor, Mangaliso Ngema has reportedly been charged for raping his sister.
As reported by Sunday World, Ngema was charged and released on bail of R5000 after appearing at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
According to the publication, the television actor was arrested at the Sandton Police Station last week.
The identity of his sister has been protected due to legal reasons, but it is alleged that the National Prosecuting Authority has confirmed the charges.
His sister alleges that Ngema raped her repeatedly for two years, claiming this happened after she moved into his house.
She revealed to the publication that her brother asked her to move in with him after she had lost her child in a car accident.
He told her that she could take the time to emotionally heal and not stress about the financial implications.
Ngema apparently first sexually assaulted her when his wife was out of the country.
She says the actor first raped her a month after she had moved in with him.
His sister has since moved out of his house after she opened the case against him and is reportedly in hiding in a place of safety.
This is not the first time the actor has been implicated in a sexual harassment scandal. Two years ago his co-star Lorraine Moropa accused him of sexual harassment.
Moropa accused Mangaliso Ngema of playing with himself whilst looking at her.
“This is a father, who also happens to speak highly of their daughter whom by the way, is practically my age and also in the industry. I wonder if he would appreciate his daughter coming home with half the stories I have to go home and tell my mother due to his actions.”
Lorraine said of the incident
Mangaliso Ngema will appear in court on 04 August with regards to the charges and possibly enter a plea.
