From his falling out with fellow Amapiano artist Young Stunna to his upbringing, Dlala Regal puts his cards out on the Ultimate Kaya 959 Top with DJ Keyez.
Kamogelo Malapane, better known as Dlala Regal, has been making strides in the SA music scene as a fresh-faced, 27-year old.
The amapiano vocalist who hails from Etwatwa has a few hit tracks out, one that is more prominently known is Dlala Captain.
His most recent being his 2022 release Umshini, which is getting the young artist a lot of attention.
Largely influenced by hip hop and deep house, as a youngster, Dlala started collecting music because it was such a big part of his life.
This soon got the music enthusiast into DJ’ing, and he gradually found his style and sound.
Fast forward to 2019 when the artist really started to get some recognition through his DJ gigs, this is when he realised that making hit tracks was what he wanted to push for.
“I was playing everywhere, taverns, private functions, wherever just to get out there.”
He knew it was a way into the industry he wanted to be a part of but it was only the tip of the iceberg and he wanted to be bigger.
This is when Dlala Regal started making his own music which brought him to collaborating with other artists including Young Stunna.

Falling out with Young Stunna
Despite the amazing hit track, Dlala Captain that Dlala Regal churned out with Young Stunna, the two are now no longer on speaking terms.
They had a falling out shortly after the track was released and it was only after Young Stunna’s appearance on the Ultimate Kaya 959 Top 30 interview did the Umshini artist realise their relationship had soured.
“He didn’t tell the whole truth about a track we did, Ba Xolele. It was produced by Dzo 729 and I received two beats from Dzo to record Young Stunna and another artist.
The beat Young Stunna recorded was meant for the other artist but because the person didn’t show up, I begged Dzo 729 to try something on it with Young Stunna. They did and that’s how Ba Xolele became a hit.
After that things changed and we exchanged words and now when he does interviews he paints me in a bad light.”
Dlala REgal dishes on the falling out between him and Young Stunna
Although he’s disappointed that there’s bad blood between them, Dlala Regal doesn’t think they will be able to repair the damage to their relationship.
“Too much time has passed. We haven’t spoken in months and after his Kaya 959 interview things just reached a new level of disrespect.”
It’s not that Young Stunna had said anything in particular about their falling out, but rather that he seemed to brush off their collaboration but spoke highly of other artists he had worked with.
All Dlala Regal can hope for is that this doesn’t taint his reputation in the industry and that he can continue making dope music people love.
