Vicky Vee Jonas has apologised to Cindy Mahlangu for making startling claims about an alleged love triangle.
The local influencer made headlines last week when she accused Cindy of hooking up with her soon-to-be ex-boyfriend.
“I see a lot of s**t happening but I choose to keep quiet. Not Cindy Thando being flewee out by someone who is about to be my ex n***a!” Vicky wrote in a since-deleted tweet.
While Vicky did not mention Cindy’s full name in the tweet, she used the name she uses in her social media handles.
Cindy did not take the comment lying down.
Cindy threatens legal action
Not only did the actress deny Vicky’s accusations, but she also demanded that Vicky retract her comments.
Cindy’s lawyers sent Vicky a letter demanding that she apologise for her defamatory comments.
“Should you fail to retract and apologise, our client reserves her right to seek further legal recourse, that is, to institute civil proceedings against you for defamation of character,” the letter read.
Vicky had until the close of business on Wednesday to retract her comments.
“I would like to unreservedly and unequivocally apologise to Cindy Thando for my tweet published on the 5th of March 2021, I was aggrieved by the turn of events then went to publish without applying myself. Thus, I retract my tweet.,” Vicky tweeted on Wednesday morning.
Women should stick together
The YouTube star added that young black women should be celebrating and supporting each other.
“I realize that my tweet did the opposite of that, which is why I’ve personally apologised,” Vicky wrote.
Cindy responded to Vicky’s tweet by sharing the letter of demand she sent the influencer, along with a lengthy apology that was sent to her on Instagram.
“This is the apology I accept,” Cindy wrote.

Social Media reaction
Social media users praised Cindy for demanding Vicky retract her defamatory comments.
“Women need to normalise not trying to shame another woman when their men act up, till this day we don’t know who the guy in question was but Cindy’s name was dragged into it? That was deliberate, anyway, glad she apologised,” one woman wrote.

Batla o hurrrda! Men will humiliate you until you learn to humble yourself. Above all else, let’s hope #Vicky comes out of this with some self worth. If he’s doing all that to you, move lala. You were not born with that man. #Cindy #VickyVee pic.twitter.com/hbtPir3qZN
