World Health Organization says COVID-19 is no longer a global health emergency.
The epidemic has officially come to an end after World Health Organization (WHO) experts declared COVID to no longer be a global health emergency.
World Health Organization acknowledged that most nations have already transitioned back to life before COVID and noted that the epidemic had been on a declining trend for more than a year.
In the interim, the department of Health has said it will continue to provide services aimed at preventing and treating COVID, including vaccination services, in accordance with WHO standards and continues to advocate immunization, especially for high regular health services.

Dr. Joe Phaahla, the health minister, cautioned the attendees of the Presidential Health Summit on Thursday that COVID-19 was still ongoing.
“It is important to clarify that this doesn’t mean the pandemic is over,”
“The fact of the matter is, the pandemic remains an important cause of morbidity and mortality especially in high risk populations such as the elderly and people living with comorbidities.” the department said on Saturday.
The department further stated that the number of cases is far lower at the current moment than during the height of the pandemic, hence it is no longer viewed as a public health emergency.
On March 11, 2020, COVID was deemed a pandemic, resulting in lockdowns and travel bans all across the world. Since then, more than six million people have died globally as a result of COVID.
